Dr. Shallen Verma

RELATIONSHIP: My ex colleague - Dr. Shallen Verma

I have learned that one can work hard despite personal challenges and hardships and contribute to society if there is a strong will. Hence, I would like to tell the story of Dr Shallen Verma.

He strived and worked hard for so many years and received the most coveted awards in UAE. Being a dentist, he worked towards providing the best dental care he can give. Drawing a genuine smile on his patients’ faces is his best virtue.

Dr Shallen Verma has been living in the UAE for 21 years now. At present, he is working as a Specialist Periodontist and Implantologist at the Mediclinic Deira. He was born in India in February 1970 and worked there for three years before moving to the UAE in 2000. Before coming to the UAE, he worked in a very prestigious clinic in New Delhi. He was a member of the panel of doctors responsible for providing dental care to the Prime Minister and President of India and treated them personally.

I met him at my workplace in Harley International Medical Clinic, where he started the dental department. He excelled in his work and was responsible for bringing smiles to so many distressed people. His patients aptly recognised his hard work and dedication. As a result, he received the “Most Loved Dentist Award” in the UAE and MENA region in 2010.

He continued his journey to provide the best dental care to the patients while continuously seeking to further his education and obtaining many fellowships and degrees. One particular and very prestigious fellowship was the honorary Fellowship of the International College of Dentists, a global body that recognises outstanding dentists working for the benefit of humanity. In addition, his efforts got due recognition when he was awarded the Award for “Distinguished Medical Specialist” in the Individual Specialist category at the Health Awards (2018), held under the patronage of Dubai Health Authority and Thumbay group.

It was not only patient care and educational excellence which impressed me, but his drive to go out of his way to help people and patients alike. This motivated me to nominate him for this very prestigious recognition. I learned from him that despite the many struggles in our personal lives, one can still contribute to society if there is a determination to impact and make a difference in other people’s lives.

The UAE is the country where the dreams of all hardworking people come true. Therefore, I cannot think of any better person other than him to nominate.
