    Ahmed Al Jasmi

    Ahmed Al Jasmi

Ahmed’s journey after graduating from university can be best described as an exhilarating roller coaster ride. After completing his bachelor's degree, he honed his skills in South Korea, diving deep into his training. However, his academic pursuits were only the beginning. Ahmed’s career took on a diverse and dynamic trajectory, with the turning point coming when he became deeply involved in sustainability in his workplace.

His sustainability efforts were focused on spreading awareness within the corporate culture of large organisations that he worked for. He was also a part of the sustainable development index within the UN.

" It's important to spark the imagination of young people. One of the core exercises that we organise is letting youth visualise the UAE fifty years from now. Using a vision board, we help empower them to see themselves as part of its prosperous future. "

Another crucial moment in Ahmed’s trajectory was when the UAE hosted COP28, where he coordinated Youth Circles that facilitated a collaboration and knowledge exchange between the youth participants as well as between private and public sectors, bringing to the table important issues such as ways to adapt to climate change. Beyond COP28, Ahmed represented the UAE in the Sustainability Lab at the World Economic Forum, focusing on youth empowerment and youth engagement.

One of the most notable campaigns that he helped facilitate was the 2023 "Fashion Reborn" project, where he organised a fashion show at the Ru’ya Career Fair. This initiative provided students from UAE schools with the opportunity to showcase their fashion design skills using leftover fabrics from major retailers. Ahmed also served as a member of the judging panel, evaluating the innovative designs presented by the students.

“If we look at the history of the UAE, we can see that people back in the day were living much more sustainably compared to today. We can take the cultivation of the palm tree as a prime example of sustainable resources that allowed people to make many products out of it.”
