Since she was little, Emaan has seen the effects of climate change on all the places she’s visited. The lake she loved, once full of serene water surrounded by plentiful trees, suddenly became a shadow of its former self. At the same time, the weather she knew was changing unpredictably. She understood then that she had to play a part in restoring our land and saving our environment.
At just seven years old, she joined a summer entrepreneurship camp and won the first prize for the contest. Afterwards, she participated in ClimateLaunchpad, a competition for green ideas and businesses. During the competition, she founded Earth Warriorz, a free-to-use climate education portal dedicated to children. “I believe that education is the first step to solving a problem,” says Emaan.
Her website EarthWarriorz.org is full of fun, immersive video courses. Each video is told in the form of a story that captures the attention of children to teach them about sustainability and climate challenges. Aiming to be inclusive, Emaan is in the process of translating the videos into multiple languages, including Arabic. For the UAE audience, Emaan will introduce a character named Noura who will be the videos’ “ambassador” that shares stories about sustainability in the UAE context. Alongside the website, the videos are also available on the Earth Warriorz YouTube channel @weareearthwarriorz
