The initiative calls upon government, non-profit and private entities in the UAE to submit applications detailing impactful projects and sustainability efforts
The United Arab Emirates - 22 October, 2024: The UAE Year of Sustainability has launched a new open call to recognise entities across the country that have demonstrated notable success and impactful efforts towards sustainability. Entries must be submitted by November 8 through the official UAE Year Of website and will be assessed by members of the Year of Sustainability’s Experts’ Network. The expert panel includes Abdullah Alremethi, Ali Al Shimmari, Habiba Al Marashi, Maitha Al Hameli and Mariam Al Qubaisi.
Participating entities will be evaluated based on the following criteria: authentic demonstration and measurable impact of sustainability initiatives; implementation of innovative and creative solutions; active engagement with the community; alignment across any of the four focus areas of the Year of Sustainability 2024: responsible consumption, water and energy conservation, planting wisely, and green transportation; and continuity of the sustainability practices implemented.
All entities participating will receive the "Plan to Action: Year of Sustainability’s Seal" recognising and celebrating their efforts towards sustainability. The seal can be displayed across digital platforms and in their physical establishments. In addition, selected entities will be highlighted on the Year of Sustainability’s website and social media to inspire collective sustainable action across the UAE.
Furthermore, all UAE entities that have earned the Seal will be featured on the interactive Plan to Action Map to highlight their sustainability initiatives. By accessing the map, users can discover environmentally responsible businesses, learn about their green initiatives, and make more informed choices to support sustainability in their daily lives.
